Kerala gives green light for new KSRTC bus terminal in Kochi

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus terminal project at Karikkamuri has cleared a significant administrative hurdle with the state government's issuance of technical sanction for its initial phase. The approval paves the way for accelerated development of the transport infrastructure facility in Kochi.

The Public Works Department is poised to invite competitive bids for the construction work during the first week of September, according to officials overseeing the initiative. The tender process is expected to attract multiple contractors and ensure competitive pricing for the project.

Once contracts are awarded following the tender process, project execution is slated to commence immediately, with authorities targeting completion and commissioning within twelve months. The new terminal is anticipated to enhance public transportation capacity and operational efficiency in the Kochi metropolitan region.

The Karikkamuri site has been identified as a strategic location for the facility, which forms part of the state's broader infrastructure modernization agenda for the transport sector.
