Kerala government, Governor settle vice-chancellor appointment dispute
The Kerala government and the state Governor have resolved their months-long legal battle over vice-chancellor appointments at two state universities. Both parties informed the Supreme Court of their settlement on Tuesday.

Ending a protracted constitutional dispute, the Kerala government and Governor's office have reached a formal settlement regarding vice-chancellor appointments to Kerala Technological University (KTU) and Darul Ulloom Kozhikode (DUK), officials confirmed to the Supreme Court.
Under the agreed terms, Ciza Thomas will retain her position as Vice-Chancellor of KTU, while Saji Gopinath will continue serving as Vice-Chancellor of DUK. The settlement brings to a close months of legal wrangling that had escalated to India's apex court.
The conflict had centred on the appointment and reappointment procedures for the heads of the two educational institutions, with disputes over the respective roles and authority of the state government and the Governor in the selection process.
With both parties now formally notifying the Supreme Court of their resolution, the immediate legal dispute has been concluded, allowing the universities to continue their academic operations without further administrative uncertainty.
