Kerala's Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry Minister Bindhu Krishna told the state assembly on Tuesday that the government has decided to recover ₹75.5 lakh lost in connection with purported irregularities in ghee supply to the Sabarimala temple.
During Question Hour proceedings, the minister said all related files have been handed over to the state's Vigilance directorate for investigation. The move follows a probe into procurement practices at the hill temple, one of the most prominent pilgrimage sites in South India.
The financial recovery is part of the government's efforts to address lapses in the temple administration's procurement processes. The Vigilance department's involvement signals a formal inquiry into the matter, with authorities working to establish accountability and recover public funds.
The Sabarimala temple, located in Pathanamthitta district, attracts millions of pilgrims annually. The irregularities reportedly occurred during ghee procurement operations at the shrine, which supplies religious offerings and blessed prasadam to devotees.
