A gym trainer was taken into custody in Atholi on Sunday following allegations of drugging and sexually assaulting a minor, police said. The special squad conducted the arrest after receiving information about the alleged crime.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act, which provides stringent provisions for crimes against minors. The case was registered after a complaint was filed with authorities regarding the alleged incident.
Police are conducting further investigations into the matter. Preliminary inquiries suggest the accused allegedly administered sedatives to the minor before committing the alleged assault. The victim is currently receiving support from child protection authorities.
