Kerala High Court grants bail to Reporter TV MD in liquor case

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Anto Augustine, Managing Director of Reporter TV, in connection with an alcohol possession case. Justice Kauser Edapppagath allowed Augustine's appeal against the order passed by the Judicial First Class Magistrate at Sulthan Bathery, setting aside the lower court's decision to remand him in custody.
Augustine had challenged the magistrate's order, which had been issued following his arrest in the case. The High Court, after examining the grounds of appeal and the circumstances of the case, found merit in Augustine's petition and decided to grant him bail pending further proceedings.
The bail order comes as a relief to the Reporter TV chief, who had been in custody following his arrest. The conditions of the bail and the amount, if any, were not immediately disclosed. The case pertains to the alleged possession of liquor in violation of relevant statutes.
The matter now stands adjourned, with Augustine required to comply with the bail conditions stipulated by the High Court. The case is expected to proceed through the judicial process in the coming weeks.
