Kerala High Court quashes cheating case against actor Nivin Pauly, director

The Kerala High Court has quashed a cheating case filed against actor Nivin Pauly and filmmaker Abrid Shine after the parties reached an amicable settlement, resolving a dispute that had arisen from the production of 'Action Hero Biju 2'.

The complaint had been registered following allegations of financial impropriety in the film's production. According to the complainant, an agreement had been entered into for producing the sequel, but the overseas rights to the film were subsequently sold to a third party without the complainant's knowledge or consent.

The High Court's decision to dismiss the case comes after both parties resolved their differences through negotiated settlement, a common outcome in disputes involving entertainment industry contracts. The court accepted the settlement plea, effectively closing the legal proceedings against both the actor and the director.

The case highlights the recurring disputes within India's film industry over intellectual property rights and contractual obligations. Such disagreements, particularly involving international distribution rights, have become increasingly common as Indian films gain wider global reach.
