Kerala intensifies multiplex food safety drive amid pricing complaints

Kerala's Food and Civil Supplies Minister has announced that surprise inspections at multiplexes will continue as part of a sustained effort to curb malpractices in food pricing and quantity management. The initiative comes in response to mounting consumer grievances about inflated prices and inadequate servings at cinema halls across the state.

State authorities have so far conducted 35 surprise inspections at multiplex food outlets, uncovering significant violations of food safety and commercial regulations. The inspections have resulted in 25 cases being registered against offending establishments, signaling a serious crackdown on non-compliant vendors.

The enforcement action reflects growing consumer concerns about unfair pricing practices in the multiplex industry, where food and beverage services often command premium rates.
