The protesting residents of Mundamveli P&T Apartment in Kochi are awaiting a resolution following a high-level meeting in Thiruvananthapuram between state government officials and representatives of the apartment complex.
Kochi MLA Mohammed Shiyas led a delegation that included P&T Apartment Protest Committee president Abhilash P. Parameswaran to meet with K.M. Shaji, Kerala's Minister for Local Self-Government, on Wednesday. The meeting was aimed at breaking the deadlock over rehabilitation of the apartment residents, who have been protesting for over 100 days.
The residents have been demanding adequate rehabilitation measures and compensation following issues related to the apartment complex. The prolonged agitation has kept the issue in the public eye and prompted government intervention at the ministerial level.
With the state government now actively engaging with the protest committee leadership, residents remain hopeful that the Wednesday meeting will yield concrete progress toward resolving their long-standing grievances. The outcome of these discussions is expected to determine the next course of action for both the residents and the administration.
