Law enforcement authorities in Kerala have arrested an alleged drug kingpin following an investigation that began with the detention of four individuals connected to a major narcotics smuggling operation. Interrogation of the four suspects yielded information that pointed investigators toward the accused, identified as Saleem.
According to police, Saleem allegedly orchestrated the procurement and transportation of the contraband drugs. The operation involved sourcing MDMA and cocaine from Bengaluru and transporting them to Coimbatore by car. From there, the narcotics were to be moved to Kerala using hired carriers, authorities said.
Investigators have seized two vehicles used in the alleged smuggling operation—one used to transport the drugs from Bengaluru to Coimbatore and another intended for the onward journey to Kerala. The seized narcotics are valued at ₹1.5 crore.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in combating drug trafficking in the region. Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the broader network involved in the smuggling operation and identify other suspected associates.
