Kerala police chief pledges action on Cheranalloor crash victims' complaints

Additional Director General of Police P. Vijayan has assured the family of Cheranalloor car crash victims that their grievances will be addressed based on findings from an independent investigation. The assurance came during a visit to the affected family, signalling the Kerala Police's commitment to examining alleged improprieties.

Vijayan stated that a dedicated team comprising an Additional Inspector General and Circle Inspectors, who travelled with him from the state capital, would conduct a comprehensive probe into the incident. The investigation will focus on verifying claims that personnel at Cheranalloor police station behaved inappropriately with the family members during their interaction following the crash.

A key component of the inquiry will be the systematic review of CCTV footage from the police station and surrounding areas. Officials said this evidence will help establish a factual record of events and interactions between police personnel and the family members. The team will also examine formal records and statements related to the incident.

The ADGP's intervention reflects heightened scrutiny of police conduct in high-profile cases. The investigation is expected to provide clarity on whether the family's complaints about official behaviour are substantiated, with appropriate action to follow if misconduct is established.
