Kerala Police probe suspected international drug supply networks

Kerala Police are intensifying scrutiny of suspected international drug supply chains operating through the state, according to Inspector General Putta Vimaladitya. The investigation has identified several countries of interest in the ongoing probe into narcotics trafficking networks.

Among the nations whose potential involvement is being examined are Afghanistan, Oman, and Thailand. The IG indicated that law enforcement agencies are systematically verifying these cross-border connections to establish the extent of international drug operations channelled through Kerala.

The development reflects growing concerns about the state's vulnerability to transnational smuggling operations. Kerala's strategic coastal location and major ports have historically made it a transit point for contraband entering India from overseas sources.

Authorities are reportedly coordinating with relevant agencies to map the supply chains and identify key nodes in the distribution networks. The investigation underscores the increasing complexity of drug trafficking operations that exploit routes across the Arabian Sea and regional trade corridors.
