Kerala power minister says KSEB tackling shortage amid LDF legacy issues
Kerala's Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph has defended the current UDF government's efforts to address the state's power crisis, asserting that previous LDF administration's lapses also contributed to the shortage.

Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph said on Thursday that the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is working vigorously to overcome the ongoing power shortage affecting the state. Addressing concerns about supply constraints, Joseph rejected assertions from opposition parties that blamed the present UDF government alone for the crisis.
Joseph pointed out that operational and administrative lapses during the previous LDF tenure had compounded the power shortage challenge faced by the current administration. He maintained that the government is taking comprehensive measures to enhance power generation and distribution infrastructure to mitigate supply constraints.
The Kerala power sector has faced recurring challenges related to peak demand management and generation capacity. The minister's remarks come as the state grapples with meeting electricity demand across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors. Joseph urged stakeholders to recognize the multifaceted nature of the power crisis rather than attributing it solely to the incumbent government's policies.
The KSEB has been exploring various solutions including demand-side management initiatives and upgrades to transmission infrastructure to improve overall system performance.
