Malappuram district in Kerala is preparing for a grand five-day Onam celebration commencing August 26, bringing together the region's rich cultural heritage through a diverse programme of performances and traditional displays.
The festival will showcase an array of cultural offerings, including classical and folk music, theatre productions, and traditional performances that reflect Kerala's artistic traditions. The celebrations are expected to draw performers and audiences from across the region, celebrating the harvest season through time-honoured customs.
The opening day will feature the Kanaran Show, a performance presentation by artists Harish Kanaran and Nirmal Palazhi. This will be followed by a musical programme featuring singer Fazila Banu and her troupe, setting the tone for the festivities ahead.
