Kerala, Tamil Nadu to jointly combat cross-border illegal waste dumping

Pollution control boards from Kerala and Tamil Nadu have agreed to establish a joint mechanism to tackle the growing problem of illegal waste dumping along their shared frontier. The proposed protocol will create a unified framework for tracking hazardous materials and monitoring the movement of waste consignments between the two states.

Under the new arrangement, both boards will implement coordinated verification procedures for waste-related documents and shipments. The system will enable real-time information sharing to identify violations and trigger swift enforcement action by the respective environmental authorities.
