Kerala to add battery storage to 100 MW Kasaragod solar park

Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is set to complement the 100 MW Kasaragod solar park's second phase with a 50 MW/100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), marking a significant step in the state's renewable energy strategy. The storage facility will help address intermittency challenges associated with solar power generation and improve grid reliability. The Kasaragod installation forms part of Kerala's broader push to increase solar capacity across the state. The battery storage project will work in tandem with five other BESS initiatives already in development by KSEB, creating a more resilient and flexible power infrastructure. These complementary systems will enable the state to better manage fluctuations in solar output and optimize energy dispatch during peak and off-peak periods. The combined storage capacity from these projects underscores Kerala's commitment to integrating renewable energy sources while maintaining grid stability and meeting growing electricity demand.
