Kerala to address Sabarimala aravana shortage after CM talks

Kerala's Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan said the state government would take decisive action on the shortage of aravana, the sacred pudding offered as prasadam at the Sabarimala temple, following discussions with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Muraleedharan stressed that the government has inherent responsibilities regarding the smooth functioning of the revered pilgrimage site and cannot afford to remain indifferent to supply disruptions affecting the temple's daily operations and devotee experience.

The minister indicated that if required, the government would petition the Kerala High Court to address its concerns regarding the aravana shortage, underscoring the seriousness with which authorities view the issue. The prasadam is a central element of the spiritual experience at Sabarimala, one of India's most visited Hindu temples.

The announcement comes amid ongoing concerns about the availability of aravana for the thousands of devotees who visit the Ernakulathappan shrine annually. Officials are expected to explore supply chain issues and implement remedial measures following the ministerial consultations.
