Kerala to fast-track medical device park approvals with single-window system

Kerala is moving to establish dedicated medical device parks while overhauling its approval process for new industrial projects, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said. The state government plans to introduce a 'single door, single document, single approval' system designed to reduce administrative friction and expedite project clearances.

The initiative involves amending 19 existing laws to create a more cohesive regulatory environment. Officials stated the objective is to end prolonged approval timelines that have historically hampered industrial development in the state, replacing them with defined timeframes for clearance.

The streamlined approach is intended to position Kerala as a more attractive destination for medical device manufacturers and other industrial ventures. By consolidating multiple approval processes into a unified mechanism, the government aims to reduce the compliance burden on investors and project developers.

The announcement reflects broader efforts across Indian states to improve the ease of doing business and attract manufacturing investments. Kerala's medical device sector, in particular, has been identified as a priority area for growth and industrial diversification.
