Kerala to review PM-SHRI scheme following cabinet panel evaluation

The Kerala cabinet has constituted a panel to examine the Prime Minister Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme, with the state government indicating it will take a final decision once the committee submits its findings. The initiative, launched by the central government, aims to develop schools with modern infrastructure and enhanced learning outcomes across the country.

State Minister Samsudheen highlighted that divergences exist between the Union and state governments regarding how the PM-SHRI scheme should be executed within Kerala's education system. These differences are expected to be clarified in the cabinet panel's report, which will form the basis for the state government's subsequent action.

The PM-SHRI scheme, part of the National Education Policy framework, seeks to establish a network of exemplary schools serving as innovation hubs. However, states have raised concerns about alignment with existing state-level initiatives and resource allocation, which appear to be among the issues flagged in Kerala's review.
