Kerala Updates Parking Fees in Panchayats With Uniform Pricing Structure

The Kerala Local Self Government Department (LSGD) has introduced standardized parking fee guidelines for panchayat areas across the state, marking a significant move toward uniform pricing in local governance. The revised rates aim to streamline collection procedures and ensure consistency in parking charges across different regions.

Under the new fee structure, two-wheelers will attract a parking charge of ₹10, while four-wheelers and cars will be levied ₹20. Mini buses have been fixed at ₹40 and full-size buses at ₹60, with all rates varying based on the parking facilities available at individual panchayat locations.

The implementation of these standardized rates is expected to provide clarity for commuters and vehicle owners while generating predictable revenue for panchayat administrations. The tiered approach takes into account the varying space requirements and wear-and-tear implications of different vehicle categories.

Local panchayat authorities have been directed to adopt these revised fee structures in their parking management systems. The move is part of a broader effort by the state government to enhance governance efficiency at the grassroots level and ensure equitable service delivery across Kerala's local self-government institutions.
