Kerala vigilance launches statewide probe into sports council irregularities

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has launched a comprehensive inspection drive at the Kerala State Sports Council and district sports council offices as part of a statewide investigation into alleged administrative misconduct. The operation, code-named 'Operation Kalikkalam', was initiated following a tip-off regarding irregularities in the functioning of various sports bodies across the state.

Vigilance director Manoj Abraham ordered the inspections after receiving reports of potential corruption and violations of established procedures in the selection and appointment processes within these councils. The scope of the investigation encompasses multiple district-level offices, signalling a coordinated effort to examine administrative practices across the state's sports administration network.

The inspections are expected to focus on appointment procedures, financial management, and adherence to regulatory guidelines within the sports councils. Officials are examining records and documentation to identify any deviations from prescribed protocols or misuse of authority in decision-making processes.
