Khlir Mohd Nor, Member of Parliament for Ketereh, has called for the relocation of the Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department (Jabatan Hal Ehwal Veteran ATM) from its current jurisdiction to the Prime Minister's Office (JPM). The proposal aims to streamline administration and enhance the effectiveness of services provided to military veterans.
According to Khlir, moving the department under the purview of the Prime Minister's Office would strengthen operational capabilities and ensure better coordination in addressing veterans' welfare issues. He emphasized that the restructuring would facilitate more efficient management of veteran-related matters at a higher administrative level.
The lawmaker's suggestion reflects ongoing discussions about organizational efficiency within government departments handling veterans' affairs. By proposing centralized oversight under the Prime Minister's Office, Khlir contended that the department would gain enhanced authority and resources to serve the veteran community more effectively.
The proposal comes as part of broader considerations regarding the optimal administrative framework for delivering services to Malaysia's military veterans. Khlir's recommendation underscores the importance of ensuring that departments responsible for veteran welfare are adequately positioned within government structures to fulfil their mandate.
