Khachanov stuns Auger-Aliassime to advance at US Open
Russian Karen Khachanov pulled off a major upset at the US Open on Thursday, defeating third-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets to secure a place in the third round.

Khachanov's impressive performance in New York saw him dispatch the Canadian with a commanding 6-7(5) 6-3 6-2 6-2 victory. The Russian, ranked significantly lower than his seeded opponent, showed particular strength in the latter stages of the match, winning the final three sets with increasing dominance.
After a tightly contested opening set that went to a tiebreaker, Khachanov found his rhythm to claim the second set 6-3. He maintained that momentum through the third and fourth sets, breaking down Auger-Aliassime's resistance with consistent serving and aggressive baseline play.
The win marks a significant achievement for Khachanov at one of tennis's most prestigious tournaments and delivers an early upset in the men's draw. Auger-Aliassime, seeded third heading into the event, was unable to find the form required to overcome his opponent's determined challenge.
