Khanh Hoa charts digital-driven marine economy growth through 2030

Khanh Hoa province has outlined an ambitious economic roadmap for 2026-2030, targeting average annual gross regional domestic product growth of 11-12% underpinned by modernisation of its marine sector. The strategy reflects growing emphasis on sustainable development and technological integration across South and Southeast Asia's coastal economies.

The province plans to elevate the digital economy to represent 35% of GRDP by 2030, up from current levels. Total factor productivity is expected to contribute more than 55% of overall growth, while labour productivity should rise by an average of 11% annually—metrics that underscore the province's commitment to efficiency-driven expansion.

Key components of Khanh Hoa's development plan include industrial projects valued at 10.8 trillion Vietnamese dong and initiatives targeting illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing operations. The fisheries sector overhaul aims to transition the industry toward modern, environmentally responsible practices that balance economic returns with resource preservation.

The province's approach aligns with Vietnam's broader pivot toward sustainable growth models that prioritise digital innovation and environmental stewardship. Success in implementing these targets could establish Khanh Hoa as a model for maritime economic development in the region.
