KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province — Municipal authorities have rolled out an initial batch of 10 walk-through metal detectors across several of the city's largest public schools as part of efforts to strengthen security measures on campus.
Mayor Jose Paolo Evangelista handed over the security equipment during Monday's flag-raising ceremony at the city gymnasium. The deployment aims to create safer learning environments for students and school staff while helping prevent weapons and dangerous items from entering school premises.
The metal detector installations represent the first phase of the city government's campus security initiative. Officials said the equipment will be strategically positioned at entry points of participating schools to facilitate systematic screening of visitors and students.
The move comes amid growing emphasis on school safety protocols across the Philippines, with educational institutions increasingly adopting technological solutions to complement traditional security measures. City officials have indicated that additional security enhancements may follow based on feedback from the initial deployment.
