Kidapawan Diocese suspends Mass after church tabernacle theft

KIDAPAWAN CITY — The Diocese of Kidapawan has announced a suspension of all Masses and sacramental celebrations at the Sta. Teresita del Niño Jesus parish church in M'lang town after the sanctuary was desecrated by thieves who stole its tabernacle.

Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo issued a formal decree on Monday imposing the temporary halt to religious services at the affected parish. The directive follows the theft and dishonoring of the Blessed Sacrament, a central element of Catholic worship housed within the tabernacle.

The identity of those responsible for the incident remains unknown, with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the crime. The Diocese did not specify when the desecration occurred or provide additional details about the theft.

The suspension of sacramental activities marks a significant response by church leadership to address what officials consider a grave violation of the sacred space. Parishioners have been directed to seek alternative venues for their religious observances pending the resolution of the matter and restoration of the sanctuary.
