Kim Jong Un's sister denies knowledge of reported Trump communications

Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, stated on Tuesday that she had no knowledge of reported communications between her brother and former US President Donald Trump. Her remarks came amid speculation about potential back-channel discussions between Pyongyang and Washington.

Despite disavowing direct knowledge of the reported exchanges, Kim Yo Jong suggested that her brother retained favourable views of Trump. She noted that Kim Jong Un still held "good memories and feelings" regarding the former American leader, signalling that diplomatic channels between the two nations may remain open.

The comments represent the regime's first official response to reports of Kim-Trump communication, though specifics of any such contact remain unclear. Relations between North Korea and the United States have fluctuated significantly since their diplomatic engagement in 2018, which marked a historic shift from years of heightened tensions.
