KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has instructed Wisma Putra to take all necessary measures to support Malaysians caught in the flooding disaster affecting Nepal.
The monarch's intervention reflects growing concern over the welfare of Malaysian citizens in the affected region as heavy monsoon rains continue to trigger widespread flooding and landslides across Nepal and neighbouring areas.
The Foreign Ministry has been tasked with coordinating relief efforts and ensuring Malaysian nationals have access to assistance, including communication support and logistical aid where necessary. Wisma Putra is expected to liaise with Malaysian missions in Nepal and regional partners to facilitate safe passage and provide emergency support to those stranded.
Nepal has been grappling with severe weather conditions that have displaced thousands and damaged critical infrastructure. The scale of the disaster has prompted regional governments to activate humanitarian response mechanisms.
Malaysians in Nepal are advised to register with the nearest Malaysian embassy or consulate and follow guidance from local authorities. The Foreign Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and urged citizens to exercise caution in affected areas.
