The Immigration, Investment, Customs and Excise Department (iICE) has introduced holographic technology at KLIA Terminal 1 to enhance passenger experience and streamline arrival information dissemination. The hologram is designed to provide travellers with guidance on immigration procedures, customs regulations, and other essential arrival information.
According to the border agency, the initiative was inspired by a holographic display of Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail that has been operating in the ministry's lobby. The success of that installation prompted iICE to explore similar technology for airport use.
The holographic assistant represents part of Malaysia's broader effort to modernise airport operations and improve customer service through emerging technologies. The display is expected to reduce congestion at information counters while providing multilingual support to international travellers arriving at the country's primary aviation hub.
The deployment aligns with Malaysia's initiative to enhance the airport experience at KLIA, one of the region's busiest aviation gateways, by integrating digital solutions into key passenger touchpoints.
