Kochi apartment takeover stalls as housing authority fails to appear

Residents and officials gathered at the Chander Kunj apartment complex clubhouse on Tuesday for what was expected to be a formal takeover by the Affordable Housing for Women Organisation (AWHO), following a district collector's directive. However, the process stalled when AWHO representatives failed to appear at the scheduled time.

Apartment owners from across Kerala had assembled for the handover, along with the Revenue Divisional Officer and the tahsildar, who were present to oversee the transition. The absence of AWHO officials threw the carefully coordinated event into uncertainty, leaving stakeholders unclear about next steps.

The collector had previously issued an ultimatum regarding the takeover of the residential complex, indicating mounting pressure to resolve the matter. However, the non-appearance of the housing authority has cast doubt on whether the takeover will proceed as planned.

The reasons for AWHO's absence were not immediately clear. Residents and officials have been left awaiting clarification on whether a fresh date will be set for the takeover process or if further administrative intervention will be required to move the matter forward.
