Kochi Corporation to launch digital survey of streetlight assets

Kochi Corporation has initiated plans for a digital streetlight survey aimed at reconciling discrepancies in its asset register and strengthening infrastructure management. The initiative comes as the agency seeks to establish accurate records of all streetlights under its purview across the city.

The survey is scheduled to begin in the first week of September, pending final consultations with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). The agency manages streetlight operations not only in Kochi but also provides similar services for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode Corporations, making the digital audit a significant undertaking across multiple municipal jurisdictions.

The digital survey is expected to address longstanding gaps in asset documentation that have hindered effective maintenance and resource allocation. By establishing a comprehensive digital record of streetlights, the corporation aims to improve operational efficiency and ensure better tracking of infrastructure status and maintenance schedules.
