Kochi Excise arrests youth with 305 grams of suspected MDMA

The Excise Department in Kochi apprehended a youth carrying 305.396 grams of suspected MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, during a recent operation. The arrest marks another significant drug seizure in Kerala's ongoing efforts to combat narcotic trafficking.

Beyond the drug haul, authorities recovered ₹2,90,000 in cash from the accused, believed to be proceeds from illicit drug sales. A mobile phone was also seized as part of the investigation, likely to contain evidence of drug distribution networks.

The case has been registered under applicable sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The Excise Department continues to intensify its operations against drug trafficking in the state, with particular focus on urban centres like Kochi where synthetic drug use has emerged as a growing concern.

The arrest follows a series of enforcement actions by Kerala's drug control authorities aimed at dismantling organized trafficking networks operating across the region.
