Kochi Water Authority to Build 50-Lakh Litre Tank at Thammanam

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has greenlit construction of a 50-lakh litre storage tank at Thammanam to tackle ongoing water supply challenges in Kochi. The facility will address the capacity constraints that have plagued the city's water distribution network.

The expanded reservoir represents a significant upgrade from the utility's earlier proposal of a 35-lakh litre tank, which was intended to replace a damaged chamber at the existing Thammanam facility. The decision to increase capacity underscores the growing demand for water storage infrastructure across the metropolitan area.

The project forms part of the KWA's broader strategy to enhance water availability during peak demand periods and seasonal fluctuations.
