The Kremlin on Tuesday responded sharply to remarks by Finnish President Alexander Stubb approving of Ukrainian strikes deeper into Russian territory, characterising his position as part of a broader "party of war" stance among Western leaders.
Kremlin officials grouped Stubb alongside British Prime Minister Andy Burnham in their criticism, suggesting that both leaders were advocating for policies that would intensify rather than resolve the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The rebuke reflects Moscow's continued sensitivity to international support for Ukraine's military operations, particularly regarding weapons that could reach targets within Russian borders. Finland's proximity to Russia and its recent accession to NATO have made it a focal point for Kremlin criticism of Western military assistance to Kyiv.
