Kriti Sanon Says She Tired Of Playing One-Dimensional 'Good Girl' Roles

Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon has opened up about her dissatisfaction with the roles she was offered during the early phase of her career, citing limited creative scope and a lack of meaningful character development.

Sanon explained that many of the parts were written from a distinctly male perspective, resulting in female characters who were one-dimensional and devoid of agency. She described these roles as "good girl" parts—characters portrayed as morally perfect but passive, with little room for complexity or growth.

"I was bored of doing the good girl parts," Sanon said, reflecting on the constraints she faced as a young actor navigating the Hindi film industry. The roles offered little opportunity for her to explore nuanced, flawed, or multidimensional characters that could drive narratives forward.

Her comments underscore ongoing discussions within Indian cinema about gender representation and the need for more women-centric stories and complex female protagonists. The actor's willingness to speak candidly about these early frustrations reflects a broader shift in Bollywood toward more diverse and empowered character portrayals.

Sanon has since built a career encompassing more varied and challenging roles, demonstrating her range as a performer across multiple film genres.
