The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced special inter-state bus services to cater to increased travel demand during the Puja and Deepavali festival season. The additional routes will connect major cities including Bengaluru, Mysuru and Chennai with multiple destinations across Kerala, enabling seamless travel for passengers planning to celebrate the festivals with family and friends across state borders.
The initiative recognises the significant migration of residents during the festival period, when communities traditionally travel to reconnect with relatives and participate in celebrations. By augmenting its fleet deployment on key inter-state corridors, KSRTC aims to provide affordable and reliable transportation alternatives to private operators during the festive rush.
The special services are expected to relieve congestion on major highways while offering competitive fares to passengers. The exact schedule, frequency and specific destinations under the scheme are being finalised by the transport corporation to optimise service delivery across the region.
Inter-state bus services typically witness peak demand during major festival periods as South Indian communities travel extensively. KSRTC's seasonal expansion addresses this recurring travel pattern and reinforces its role as a key connectivity provider across the South and Southeast Indian transport network.
