KTMB alerts public to fraudulent job recruitment schemes on social media

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has moved to protect job seekers from deceptive recruitment schemes appearing on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, where fraudulent postings falsely claim to represent the national railway company.

The operator explicitly denied authorising any external parties or recruitment agents to conduct hiring on its behalf, warning that scammers are exploiting the platform to target unsuspecting applicants. KTMB stressed that legitimate job vacancies are only advertised through official channels and company websites.

The warning comes as online employment fraud continues to rise across Malaysia, with criminals using popular social media platforms to impersonate established employers and extract personal information or financial payments from applicants.

Prospective employees are advised to verify all job offers directly through KTMB's official website and contact channels before responding to any recruitment communications. The company urged the public to report suspicious postings to both the platform administrators and relevant authorities to prevent further victims from falling prey to the scams.

Jobseekers are also reminded to exercise caution when sharing personal details online and to be wary of offers requiring upfront payments or unusual application procedures that deviate from standard recruitment practices.
