KUALA LUMPUR — Construction work on the upgraded Emergency and Trauma Department at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) is progressing toward its final stages, with project officials targeting completion by the end of 2026.

The modernisation initiative aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities and expand treatment facilities at the hospital's emergency unit, which handles a significant volume of critical cases annually. The new block construction incorporates contemporary medical infrastructure and improved patient flow management systems.

The project represents a substantial investment in upgrading critical healthcare infrastructure at one of Malaysia's largest public hospitals. Upon completion, the enhanced emergency department is expected to better accommodate patient demand and support clinical operations across multiple emergency medicine disciplines.

HKL serves as a major tertiary care facility for the Klang Valley region and receives patients from across the surrounding areas. The emergency department upgrade forms part of broader infrastructure development initiatives aimed at strengthening the hospital's capacity to deliver urgent and emergency medical services.

The completion timeline places the project within the hospital's medium-term facility modernisation roadmap, ensuring improved emergency care delivery for the greater Kuala Lumpur population.
