Kuching Marathon Called Off Due to Haze Conditions
Organisers of the Kuching Marathon have cancelled the event due to deteriorating air quality from regional haze. Registered participants can collect their finisher medals and race kits from a designated collection point.

The Kuching Marathon, scheduled to take place in the Sarawak capital, has been cancelled due to haze conditions affecting the region, race organisers announced. The decision was made to ensure the health and safety of participants given the poor air quality.
Registered runners will not lose out entirely on their participation. Organisers have arranged for finisher medals and race T-shirts to be distributed to all registered participants at Plaza Merdeka, beginning September 26.
The haze affecting Kuching is part of the seasonal air quality challenges that periodically affect parts of Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region during certain times of the year. Such conditions have previously led to the postponement or cancellation of outdoor sporting events across the region.
Participants are advised to collect their merchandise during the designated distribution period. Organisers did not provide details on whether the marathon would be rescheduled for a future date.
