KUCHING — The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) will serve as the focal point for the state capital's Malaysia Day commemoration, with organisers anticipating a substantial turnout for the celebrations scheduled in the coming days.
The gathering is expected to attract around 5,000 participants who will converge on the venue to participate in festivities and activities organised to mark the occasion. Officials have been overseeing preparations to ensure the event runs smoothly and accommodates the expected number of attendees.
Malaysia Day, observed on September 16 each year, commemorates the formation of the Malaysian federation on that date in 1963. For Sarawak, the date holds particular significance as it marks the state's entry into the federation alongside Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
The Kuching celebration aims to foster national unity and awareness of Malaysia's historical milestones. Organisers have arranged for various activities and programmes throughout the event to engage visitors and reinforce the importance of the occasion to the broader Malaysian public.
