PAGADIAN CITY – All classes in public and private schools throughout Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur, remained suspended Tuesday as local officials prepared for further heavy rainfall in the coming days.
Mayor Ruel Molina issued Executive Order No. 95, Series of 2026, directing the blanket closure of educational institutions at all levels. The measure follows significant flooding that affected portions of the municipality on Monday evening, prompting concerns among disaster management authorities about worsening conditions.
The suspension reflects growing concern over the weather system's trajectory through the region. Local government units have advised residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and prepare for potential evacuation if conditions deteriorate further.
School officials have not yet announced when classes will resume pending an assessment of weather conditions and the extent of infrastructure damage throughout the municipality.
