Kumaraswamy Accuses Karnataka CM of Illegal Land Purchases in BMIC Project

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has launched a fresh attack on Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, accusing him of making illegal land purchases related to the Bangalore Metropolitan Industrial Corridor Project (BMIC). Kumaraswamy alleged that Shivakumar, then serving as Urban Development Minister and Chairman of the BMICP Authority, violated the original framework agreement through his decisions in 2004.

The JD(S) leader's charges centre on administrative actions taken during Shivakumar's tenure in the state government. According to Kumaraswamy, these decisions contravened the foundational agreement that governed the industrial corridor project, a key infrastructure initiative for the region.

The accusations mark another escalation in the political friction between the two leaders, with the BMIC project emerging as a contentious issue. Shivakumar's role in the project's administration during his earlier tenure as Urban Development Minister has come under scrutiny, with questions raised about the legality of land acquisition processes.

The dispute underscores broader concerns about governance and decision-making in major state infrastructure projects. The allegations suggest potential irregularities in how land was acquired for the industrial corridor, a matter that could have significant implications for project stakeholders and government accountability.
