Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), the central government body overseeing autonomous schools, has alerted parents and guardians about fake versions of its SAMAGAM application proliferating in digital marketplaces. The spurious apps, which mimic the official platform's interface and branding, are designed to deceive users into downloading them under the false impression that they are legitimate KVS services.

The advisory specifically highlights the dangers posed by these counterfeit applications, which can potentially compromise sensitive information including student records, contact details, and financial data submitted by parents. Fraudsters operating these fake apps may exploit the collected information for identity theft, unauthorized transactions, or targeted phishing schemes.

KVS has instructed parents to verify the authenticity of any educational application before installation and to download only from official channels. The organisation emphasised that its legitimate SAMAGAM platform is the sole authorised digital interface for accessing KVS-related services and student information. Users are advised to exercise caution when prompted to enter personal or financial details through any application claiming KVS affiliation.

Parents experiencing suspicious activity or having inadvertently downloaded unauthorised apps are encouraged to report such incidents to KVS authorities immediately and to change their account credentials. The advisory forms part of broader efforts by educational institutions and government bodies across India to combat the rising menace of app-based fraud targeting families and educational establishments.
