The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered a significant administrative reshuffle, reassigning multiple senior officials across the union territory. The transfers mark a substantial restructuring of the bureaucratic apparatus managing key government functions in the region.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah responded to the reshuffle by expressing confidence in the L-G's decision-making process. "The L-G must have enforced these transfers with a good vision," Abdullah said, indicating the elected government's willingness to cooperate with the incoming officers despite the scale of the administrative changes.
Abdullah further stated that his government would prepare itself to work effectively with the newly transferred officials. The statement appeared aimed at signalling smooth cooperation between the elected administration and the union territory's bureaucracy, even as the reshuffle highlighted the considerable administrative authority retained by the L-G's office.
The timing of the reshuffle comes as the elected government seeks to establish its footing following recent elections that restored direct democratic representation to Jammu and Kashmir. The administrative reorganization represents one of the first major governance decisions under the new political configuration in the union territory.
