L&T secures ₹10,000-crore power transmission and distribution contracts

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders valued at ₹10,000 crore for its power transmission and distribution business segment, the company announced. The contract portfolio encompasses the development of transmission lines, substations and associated cabling infrastructure across multiple project sites.

The orders are designed to bolster India's power grid infrastructure and enhance its capacity to handle renewable energy sources. As the country accelerates its transition towards cleaner energy, strengthening transmission and distribution networks has become critical for efficiently evacuating power generated from solar and wind installations to consumption centres.

L&T, one of India's largest engineering and construction companies, has been a key player in the nation's power sector infrastructure development. The latest contract wins underscore continued demand for grid modernisation and expansion initiatives across Indian states and central utilities.

The company did not provide specific details regarding project locations, timelines or client identities in its announcement. Industry analysts expect such large-scale transmission projects to play a pivotal role in supporting India's renewable energy targets and ensuring reliable power supply to growing consumer demand.
