L&T secures three West Asia battery storage projects valued at ₹5,000 crore

Larsen & Toubro has secured three major battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in West Asia valued at over ₹5,000 crore, marking a significant expansion of the engineering conglomerate's renewable energy portfolio in the region.

The three projects will collectively add 6 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage capacity to regional power grids. Each project encompasses complete system integration including grid interconnections, substations, and underground cable networks required for seamless power transmission and distribution.

The contracts underscore L&T's growing presence in the Middle East's energy transition initiatives, as countries in the region increasingly invest in renewable energy infrastructure and storage solutions to diversify their power generation mix. Battery energy storage systems are critical infrastructure components that enable grids to balance supply and demand while integrating higher proportions of intermittent renewable energy sources.

The project scope encompasses engineering, procurement, and construction activities that will require significant coordination across multiple sites. L&T's appointment reflects confidence in its technical capabilities and track record in delivering complex energy infrastructure projects across Asia and the Middle East.
