La Union Governor Ortega Takes Helm of Ilocos Peace Council
Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega of La Union has been sworn in as the new chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council for the Ilocos Region. The oath-taking ceremony took place Monday at the provincial Capitol in San Fernando City.

Governor Ortega assumed his leadership role of the council during formal proceedings at the La Union Capitol, where he was administered the oath of office by Jonathan Paul M. Leusen Jr., regional director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The Regional Peace and Order Council serves as a coordinating body for peace and security initiatives across the Ilocos Region, which comprises the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union, as well as Dagupan City.
Ortega's assumption of the chairmanship underscores the provincial government's role in addressing regional security concerns and coordinating with national agencies on matters of public order and safety.
The council typically convenes local government officials, law enforcement representatives, and other stakeholders to develop strategies for maintaining peace and addressing crime and disorder across the region.
