MANILA — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is accelerating plans for a shipbuilding training center in Zambales after signing a partnership with major Korean shipbuilding and marine equipment firms, officials announced Friday.
The collaboration involves HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) and the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI), which will provide technical expertise and support for the facility. The partnership represents a significant step toward establishing world-class maritime training infrastructure in the Philippines.
The proposed training center is designed to produce skilled workers capable of meeting international standards in shipbuilding and related maritime industries. With South Korean partners contributing industry knowledge and best practices, the facility is expected to enhance the country's competitive position in regional shipbuilding markets.
