Lack of awareness driving criticism of Google data centre project: Andhra CM

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday suggested that opposition to Google's planned data centre in Andhra Pradesh stems from a lack of awareness about the project's significance for the state's technological development.

The Chief Minister's remarks emerged during an event where students from ZPHS, A. Koduru, delivered presentations in English on various state initiatives. The students outlined details of the Swarna Andhra–Swachch Andhra programme, zero-waste management systems, and emerging technological applications, demonstrating the state's commitment to sustainable development.

Naidu's statement underscores the government's push to position Andhra Pradesh as a technology hub, with data centre infrastructure playing a central role in this vision. The Chief Minister indicated that greater public understanding of such projects would help build support for initiatives aimed at attracting major technology investments to the state.

The data centre project is part of broader efforts by the state government to develop digital infrastructure and create employment opportunities in the technology sector. Officials have previously highlighted potential economic benefits and job creation associated with major tech projects.
