LUCENA CITY — Laguna de Bay's water level reached 12.34 meters on Tuesday morning, bringing it dangerously close to the critical high-water threshold of 12.50 meters, according to the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA). The 16-centimeter gap between current and critical levels has heightened concerns among water resource managers overseeing the country's largest freshwater lake. The LLDA's Radar Level Sensors recorded the lake's average water level as it continued its upward trajectory amid ongoing rainfall across the region. Officials have not issued evacuation orders but are maintaining heightened vigilance as weather patterns continue to influence inflow into the lake. The situation underscores the vulnerability of communities surrounding Laguna de Bay to flooding, a recurring concern during the monsoon season that affects millions of residents in the CALABARZON region and Metro Manila.
