Laguna suspends afternoon classes as monsoon rains intensify

LUCENA CITY — Laguna Governor Sol Aragones ordered the suspension of all afternoon classes at all educational levels Monday as the enhanced southwest monsoon brought intense rainfall across the province.

Aragones announced the measure through a social media post after the provincial government received a Yellow Heavy Rainfall Warning affecting the entire Laguna region. The alert indicated conditions warranted precautionary action to ensure the safety of students and school personnel.

The suspension applied to both public and private schools throughout Laguna province. Authorities did not specify when classes would resume, with decisions expected to depend on weather conditions and updated forecasts from meteorological agencies.

The enhanced southwest monsoon has brought significant rainfall to the region, prompting various local government units across the country to implement similar precautionary measures. School administrators were advised to monitor weather updates before deciding on subsequent class schedules.
